Ahead of its public debut at September's Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled official images for the 2014 S63 AMG, the more powerful version of the new 2014 S-Class sedan. The heart and soul of the beast in posh sheep's clothing is AMG's hand-built twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine, good for 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. The brutish power is channeled through a seven-speed automatic gearbox, driving all four wheels courtesy of Mercedes' standard 4Matic four-wheel drive system. The transmission will offer three modes of operation: Controlled Efficiency (with an eco start-stop system that shuts off the engine during long lights), Sport or Manual. Versus the outgoing model, the 2014 model sheds up to 220 lbs, thanks to aluminum construction, lightweight AMG wheels and a lithium ion battery. The upshot: a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of just 3.9 seconds. Look for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG to arrive in showrooms in November.
