No longer willing to play second fiddle against the likes of TAG Heuer and Victorinox Swiss Army, Casio introduced its first true premium timepiece collection, the MT-G: Metal Twisted G-Shock Collection, at last night’s G-Shock 30th Anniversary “Shock The World 2013” event in New York City. While Casio already has its high-end EDIFICE watch line, the company decided to finally act upon its fans’ requests for a more sophisticated design.
“Remaining true to G-SHOCK’s heritage of innovation in Shock resistant watch performance, we have created a set of premium timepieces that will last not just a lifetime, but through generations.” – Shigenori Itoh, Chairman and CEO of Casio’s Timepiece Division.
Capable to take on all kinds of elements, conditions, and abuses, thanks to its Core Guard Structure of resin layers, alpha Gel dampeners, and LED-infused Tough Movement, the MT-G’s TOUGH SOLAR continuously charges the watch power supply while Multi-Band 6 atomic timekeeping ensures accuracy through wireless time/date updates from atomic clocks worldwide. No longer the plasticky watch, however, the MT-G Collection is still fitting enough for a boardroom meeting or a black-tie affair thanks to its polished stainless steel construct.
The Casio G-Shock “Metal Twisted” Watch Collection will be making its debut in a trio of designs: the Casio G-Shock MTGS1000D-1A ($900 USD) in polished stainless steel & resin, the Casio G-Shock MTGS1000BD-1A ($1000 USD) in refined black Ion Plated stainless steel & resin, and finally, the limited black Ion Plated Casio G-Shock MTGS1030BD-1A ($1100 USD) with gold highlights and metallic band with red accents to celebrate Casio G-Shock’s 30th Anniversary. All three models will be available starting in November 2013 and exclusively at Tourneau, Tourneau.com and the Casio G-Shock NYC SoHo Flagship Store.
