When the first Fiat 500 Abarths came out, getting the SUV-obsessed, gas-guzzling crowd to buy such a tiny hatch-back was understandably a tough sell. But, you've got to hand it to Fiat; in almost every city you'll see at least a few of these 130-hp tiny cars scooting around with their passengers clearly enjoying the ride. Today, Fiat celebrates not only the 50th Anniversary of the original Abarth, but today's newest generation with the most powerful version to date: the Abarth 595. A 1.4-liter T-Jet turbo engine boosts the number of horses to 180, which is paired with Abarth's Competizione gearbox. Inside and out, Fiat has upgrade the style with historical logos and a three-tone painted scheme that mirrors the original, fitting of a celebratory model. Fiat has also decided to only produce 299 units, each with red leather sports seats and an OG-inspired dashboards. The 595 50 Anniversary Edition model is the perfect way to pay tribute to a model that plays an important part in the automotive history; now we'll just have to wait until its unveiling in Frankfurt to learn even more.
