On the back of Kanye's latest project, this fall's Yeezus Tour was set to be one of the year's premier events with a Kendrick Lamar and Flying Lotus collaboration set to open the show. Now it's been announced that the one of the most prolific and successful rap trios of all time, the Queens natives, A Tribe Called Quest, will join the tour for the tour's New York leg. The catch is that this show is slated to be the last time the trio will perform on stage together.
Anyone who is familiar with Tribe knows that the relationship between Phife and Tip has been stressed since the release of The Love Movement in 1998. After the album's release the group disbanded performing only a handful of shows over the next 15 years. Michael Rappaport's Beats, Rhymes & Lifechronicles the groups ups and downs and the schism that formed over a lifetime of working together. It's no surprise that the Tribe is officially calling it quits, it's just a sad day for hip-hop fans to see one of the greatest groups of all time officially hang it up.
Anyone looking to kick it with Tribe one last time should look to pick up tickets at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn on 11/19 or Madison Square Garden on 11/23. This might be your last chance.
