Nicolas Ghesquière to replace Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton

Hear the news! Legendary luxury brand Louis Vuitton has appointed Nicolas Ghesquière to be the new artistic director of Louis Vuitton womenswear, effective immediately. His first show for Louis Vuitton is set for March 2014.

The appointment is not a surprise as Ghesquière's impressive 15-year tenure as the creative director for Balenciaga has made him more than capable of holding down the job at LV. Expectations that Ghesquière will work the same magic are strong. In a statement released recently, Louis Vuitton has expressed its confidence that Ghesquière will bring “a modern creative vision to the house’s women’s collections, building on the values of refinement, savoir faire and extreme quality.”

The feeling on Ghesquière's side is mutual: “Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration. I am very honored of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision."

Give it up to the man of the hour. It's time to bust out the Moet-Hennessy fasho.
