As a lead-up to the launch of the Nike Kobe 9 Elite, the Swoosh has taken the wraps off the Prelude Pack. Subtitled "A Road to the Masterpiece," the collection features Kobe Bryant's first eight signature sneakers, all adorned with unique designs that celebrate the stories behind Kobe's most defining moments. Nike Basketball has readied an introductory video to accompany the launch, featuring Kobe himself ruminating on the "historical context" imbued in each pair. There are highs (the "81-point game" shoe, referencing Kobe's historical performance against the hapless Toronto Raptors in 2006) and lows (the "misery shoe," ostensibly denoting the Lakers' loss to the Celtics in the 2008 Finals). As Kobe points out, the common denominator that links each shoe is creativity with a purpose. Check out the video below, and expect the first installment of the collection -- the Nike Kobe 1 Prelude -- to hit stores Saturday, December 7th, followed by successive launches from the series on a weekly basis.
