Kenzo‘s Carol Lim and Humberto Leon looked to the workwear of the American Northwest in presenting the brand’s Fall/Winter 2014 menswear collection, creating an industrial backdrop replete with raw metal building frames. Layering was a strong theme here, with blousons and vests worn over suits, mostly finished in somber greys and browns. The moody color palette was brightened with color-blocked cable-knits in vivid hues, as well as lightweight coats printed with abstract moon-lit landscapes. The warmth offered by a puffer jacket and the durability conveyed by the heavy-duty boots spoke to the functionality of the collection, which combined with the large collars and layered silhouettes to create a stylized yet accessible aesthetic.
