Burton Thirteen came into realization when Burton‘s CFO, Greg Dacyshyn, took a special liking to designs by Yosuke Aizawa, founder and designer of White Mountaineering. Since Burton and White Mountaineering share a fondness for the number 13–Burton uses 13 as a moniker in their branding and Aizawa’s design firm is named Thirteen Works Inc.–the naming came as an obvious choice. The concept of the line is a focus on gear that can be worn in the city and the mountain, bridging the gap between snowboard wear and casual wear. This debut Fall/Winter 2014 collection focuses on original, jacquard Gore-Tex materials that were conceptualized by the Japanese designer. Thirteen pieces make up the initial collection, aiming for delivery at select Burton retailers beginning September.
