"Hometown HiFi: Sound System Culture" is a new exhibition at L.A.'s Sonos Studio that explores the birth of the Dub movement, originating in the streets of Jamaica in the 1960s. Back then, music engineers discovered a new way to enjoy music, ultimately bringing people together to form something of a musical revolution. The following short film documents the history of Dub, featuring commentary from French journalist/documentary director Seb Carayol (Hometown HiFi curator), legendary Dub artist Mad Professor and others. Check out the video below, and be sure to check out the exhibition -- which runs through April 24 -- at Sonos Studio on La Brea. The exhibition features King Tubby's Hometown HiFi-System, as well as a series of films shown in the U.S. for the first time.
