While advanced statistical analysis has revolutionized the way MLB general managers and scouts evaluate talent, the data-driven revolution is just now taking root in the NBA. Sporting goods giant Wilson is set to aid in the transition with the introduction of the Smart Basketball, scheduled to launch in Holiday 2014. The ball is equipped with built-in performance-tracking sensors, the technology developed by Wilson in partnership with Finnish artificial intelligence firm SportIQ. Athletes will be able to pair the ball with a mobile app to easily track performance data, meaning they can see just how well they're shooting, which spots on the court they're most efficient, the amount of time it takes for them to let go of a shot, and when shots have been made or missed. Go here to register be among the first to receive release information about the Wilson connected basketball.
