Despite all the misgivings automotive journalists have on the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe luxury crossover, no one can deny its impact on the car market and how it nearly created a new vehicle segment single-handedly. Sensing a growing interest from consumers, Mercedes-Benz decided to create its very own funky-looking luxury crossover for model year 2015. Designated by company as the Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV thus far, the new model will be re-badge as the MLC when it goes to production sometime next year. On appearance, the MLC looks to be an abbreviated version of the larger ML-Class and while it shares many of the components, the new crossover features a more aggressive stance with performance-oriented style of ride. No detailed information at this time about its drivetrain but expect a full range of offerings from V6, V8, Hybrid and even a AMG variant. In his address during MB’s shareholders meeting earlier today, company CEO Dieter Zetsche added“"With the Concept Coupé SUV we aim to secure new customers by opening up new segments for Mercedes-Benz”. The new Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV will be making its official debut at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, aka Beijing Auto Show, later this month.
