Audi has taken the wraps off the R8 LMX, described as the "world's first production car with laser high beams." The lights operate at speeds above 37.3 miles per hour, twinned with LED high-beam projectors and providing a phosphor-converted white light at a color temperature of 5500 Kelvin. The result is a cone of light with twice the range of the all?LED headlight. Aside from the laser headlamps, drivers who get behind the wheel of the LMX will enjoy the benefits of a V10 engine with 570 horsepower, and a seven?speed S tronic gearbox. The exterior, meanwhile, features Ara Blue crystal-effect paint, along with a fixed rear spoiler, front spoiler lip, and a rear wing and diffuser, all made of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) in a matte finish. The Audi R8 LMX launches this summer, in a production run limited to just 99 units.
