At Paris Fashion Week, designer Kris Van Assche outlined the blueprint for the Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2015 collection in literal fashion, opening the show with a blue mohair tuxedo in three variations: classic, straight and “fashion,” the latter category embodied by tapered slacks and a boxy jacket with toggle closure. That tradition/fashion dynamic would be a prevalent theme throughout the collection, seen in a nautical motif featuring Breton-striped vests and bright yellow sailing jackets, as well as a secondary street-art theme that combined the romantic and bohemian, featuring crayon squiggles on blazers and washed jeans. Running throughout the collection was printed handwritten script — borrowed from a letter written by Christian Dior himself in the 1950s — used to forge a connection to the brand’s heritage while also adding a makeshift fashion embellishment.
