At this week's Wearable Technologies Conference in San Francisco, adidas introduced the Fit Smart, the latest addition to the Three-Stripes' growing miCoach digital fitness platform. Designed for athletes of all levels, the Fit Smart is a workout intensity training device that measures heart rate, calories, pace, distance and stride rate, all from the wrist. The silicon-wrapped wristband has a battery that lasts 10 hours on a single charge and is intended for use only when the wearer works out or is engaged in a sporting activity. The key feature is a glowing band of LED lights on the face, delivering workout intensity data through the use of a heart rate monitor. Users can use the miCoach Train and Run app for iOS and Android to customize wristband settings, as well as access hundreds of free training plans created in partnership with the elite coaches at EXOS. The adidas Fit Smart comes in black or translucent white and is available in two sizes, with retail set for $199. A release date is scheduled for late August.
