Samsung has unveiled its new Gear S smartwatch, featuring a curved two-inch Super AMOLED display and built-in 3G and 2G connectivity. The latter means that even when the wearer is outside the range of a Bluetooth-connected phone or WiFi, the Gear S can still send and receive messages or make calls. Under the hood of the Tizen-powered device is a dual core 1.0 GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB of onboard storage and a 300mAh battery, good for two-day use. Additional features include GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, a heart rate monitor, an accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and barometer. Look for the Samsung Gear S smartwatch to launch in October.
