By now it's something of an open secret that adherents of traditional Ivy League style should look to the Far East to get their tweedy fix. Specifically, latter-day preppies can do no wrong filling their wardrobes from Japan's Beam Plus, the brand that's been updating classic American staples since 1999. The latest seasonal collection recalls the boarding schools and country clubs of J.D. Salinger's Glass clan, featuring club ties, fair isle sweater vests, patch pocketed corduroy blazers and camel duffle coats. Cotton fleece sweatpants and outerwear layered over suit jackets inject a youth-movement vibe to the proceedings, but they don't diminish the timeless appeal of the collection at large.
