With nearly 220 years of combined experience, New Balance and Horween (founded in 1906 and 1905 respectively) both understand what it takes to last in their particular industries. New Balance has sported Horween leather on some of their more recent models such as the M997PR, but these New Balance 998’s will be the first pairs with an entire Horween upper. The craftsmanship that is required to create these is astounding, as the quality of the Horween leather (used for both NBA basketballs and NFL footballs) requires pair matching. Coming in a buttery cherry brown as well as a hazelnut colorway, the tagless 998’s feature embossed lettering on both the tongue and heel tab. These will also carry the highest retail price tag, $400 USD, in the history of New Balance. Redefining premium sneakers is nothing new for New Balance however, as they were the first company with a triple digit price point on runners all the way back in 1982. Look for these to drop in extremely limited quantities on October 1st at joints like Oneness.
