What started as a business model for a footwear company, STAMPD is now a full-fledged fashion brand with influences well beyond its Los Angeles roots. More than just a purveyor of trends, however, STAMPD redefined itself as an influencer, one that is bridging the two realms of high fashion and streetwear. What’s more, STAMPD has put its focus on infrastructure and product rather than marketing. With a “quiet confidence,” it is letting its designs and product qualities to speak for themselves, much like owner and creative director Chris Stamp himself.
In head-to-toe STAMPD gear, from the recently released Strapped Bomber Jacket to the “Made in Italy” Marina Brogue, Stamp also recalled some of his earlier designs, such as the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust watch he created with Swisssignatures. Surrounded by his collection of Eames furnishings, the trained graphic designer briefly chatted about the story of STAMPD though there was an underlying hint that he was restless. After all, when you’re planning to grow your brand 100-fold in the next five years, there is no time for rest.
