Side-By-Side Comparison of Apple iPhone Camera from The Original to the New iPhone 6

With its five-element lens and a f/2.2 aperture, Phil Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, promised the new 8-megapixel iSight camera to be the best one ever installed on a iPhone. But is it? To independently verify that the new iSight camera on the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will outperform its predecessors, photographer Lisa Bettany took 8 different iPhones (the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and finally, the iPhone 6) for a real-life, side-by-side comparison. As the co-founder of Camera+, the best-selling photo app in the world, Bettany started her test with a macro shot of strawberries. She hit a snag almost immediately since the original iPhone and iPhone 3G don’t have the ability to shot macro. Next, Bettany tried out a backlit scenario. Once again, the images from the iPhone and iPhone 3G were subpar. By her third test on a daylight shot, a pattern started to emerge, that the camera on the iPhone 4S and onward have better, more realistic outputs.
