Nike and Undercover have unveiled the latest installment of their Gyakusou technical running collection. The pieces combine Nike Running and Research Lab innovations with designer Jun Takahash'si own performance insights, followed by rigorous testing from Takahashi and his GIRA running crew. The collection is nothing short of a re-imagining of the modern running uniform, highlighted by Takahashi’s vision of a single bottom layer, versus the traditional shorts-over-tights rig. The upshot is the Men’s Utility Long Tights, a running short and tights hybrid that rids the bulk of two layers without compromising functionality, specifically pockets to hold everyday essentials.
That same evolutionary vision was the guiding principle behind the Engineered Sleeve Composite Jacket, featuring unlined construction built with various materials, each designed to meet a particular need: the body of the garment is a composite Storm-FIT for weather protection, while the sleeves and neck are formed from an engineered knit for mobility. A stand collar and sealed seams offer additional protection, while laser-perforated underarm ventilation and laser-cut Gyakusou logo at the back offer key areas of heat dispersal. A key/coin pocket and laser-cut concealed-zip hand pockets round out the details.
This groundbreaking jacket works in tandem with the men's and women’s Dri-FIT Sweat Map Long-Sleeve Tops and Dri-FIT Sweat Map Short-Sleeve Tops. Additional tops include the men’s Mesh Thermo Vest and 4-Way Stretch 1/2 Zip Hoody Top, and an Embossed Woven Hooded Jacket and Aeroloft 800 Vest for both men and women. Along with the Dri-FIT Utility Long Tights, men’s bottoms include 4-Way Stretch Slim Long Pants and Embossed Woven Shorts, while women’s bottoms include Embossed Woven Shorts and Dri-FIT Long Tights. An Outlast Knit Cap and Wide Head/Ear Band, both featuring reflective silver logos, round out the range.
The Nike x Undercover Gyakusou Holiday 2014 Collection is set to launch at global NikeLab locations and online beginning October 23rd.
