Known as ““Hans Ruedi” to his friends and family, artist H.R. Giger passed away unexpectedly this past May, leaving behind a legacy that helped to change our visual perceptions in not just prints and sculptures but films as well. Famous for his works in the “biomechanical” genre, a study between organic and mechanic with a tinge of horror and sexual innuendos, Giger’s first major publication, Necronomicon, gained the attention of director Ridley Scott in 1977. Subsequently, Giger became the art director on the 1979 film Alien, a position earned him the 1980 Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects. But Giger’s influence reached far beyond just the Alien franchise. From Poltergeist II, Species, album cover art for Danzig, Dead Kennedys, to interior space, set design, to this most recent collaboration with New York City’s Supreme.

In addition to the limited edition skateboard decks currently available, the H.R. Giger x Supreme collaboration also consists of a coaches jacket, hooded sweatshirt, a knit top, long and short sleeve t-shirts, all with Giger’s signature art. To be release along side Supreme’s original graphic t-shirt collection for Fall 2014, the H.R. Giger for Supreme Capsule Collection will be available this Thursday, October 9th, at Supreme’s store locations in New York, Los Angeles and London. The collection will also be available via its online store follow by the launch across Japan on Saturday, October 11th.
