Microsoft has unveiled the simply named Microsoft Band, a 10-sensor fitness tracker made of “thermal plastic elastomer” that’s equipped with a 1.4-inch touchscreen with a 320 x 106 resolution. It packs the requisite heart-rate monitor, as well as built-in GPS, a UV sensor, which keeps track of sun exposure, and a galvanic skin response sensor to measure stress. It comes in three sizes and is powered by two 100mAh lithium-ion batteries, good for a two-day charge. The Band is compatible with iOS, Android and Windows Phones, though voice commands to Cortana will only work with a Windows Phone device. It also offers smartwatch-style notifications, including email messages, calendar reminders, phone calls, Twitter and Facebook notifications.
