Some guys collect rare coins or baseball cards. Rich Weissensel of Chicago, Illinois, harbors a passion of a more rarefied variety: the software engineer collects wrecked DeLorean DMC 12s and transforms them into mutant automotive creations, including a monster truck and 26-foot stretch limo with three sets of fully operational gull-wing doors. According to Weissensel, the project kicked off back in 2000, when he met John DeLorean himself at the Cleveland DeLorean Car Show. After getting the approval of the company founder, Weissensel made good on his plans to create a series of unorthodox custom versions of the car he loved. The fifty-year-old promises he'll continue his passion project for as long as he's able.
