Red Bull's new corporate digs in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood is surprisingly understated. Designed by architecture firm INABA, the 16,800 square-foot space is devoid of eye-catching forms or examples of theoretical trends with respect to workplace productivity. Instead, the layout and aesthetic are simple and free of pretension, featuring a gallery-like vibe complete with concrete floors, whitewashed walls and upholstered pieces of mid-century modern furniture. The office currently houses 60 people, with enough space to hold twice as many without extensive renovation. Technology is a key component in terms of planning, meaning IT and MEP systems are left exposed to accommodate any future upgrades. Versatility is also reflected in the fixed spaces, divided into large zones, medium-sized enclosed areas and small cubicles. None are custom-tailored, so they can be easily adapted for varied uses in the future.
