Hi again, Freshness readers. It's the most wonderful time of the year and we wish you the merriest of holidays from the bottom of our deadstock Jordans. We've finally made it to the halfway point of our sensational 12 Days of Freshness Gift Guide and we hope that as you read this, you're bundled up in a sea of cashmere, drinking an industrial sized mug of the richest hot chocolate in all the land. On the sixth day of Christmas your true love gave to you six geese-a-laying (lame) but we give you the adidas Originals Tubular Runner. Aw yeah.
All of you are, of course, familiar with adidas but allow us to drop a few knowledge bombs for those of you uninformed. Contrary to popular (dumb) belief, adidas is not an acronym for "all day I dream about sports". It was actually started by Adolf "Adi" Dassler in 1949 after he feuded with his brother Rudolf (ha!), who had founded Puma some years prior. Bet you didn't know that, did you? The town of Herzogenaurach (no idea how to pronounce it), where both companies were established, used to be referred to as "the town of bent necks" because people would always look down at each other's shoes. Today, adidas remains as one of the largest sportswear labels in the world and has expanded their line into some awesome subdivisions like adidas Originals, which brings us to our pick for Day Six – the Tubular Runner.
Originally thought to be Kanye West's new project, the adidas Originals Tubular Runner made its debut just last month to much fanfare, and for very good reason, because this handsome shoe features the best of adidas' technical designs married with a sleek, modern aesthetic. The name comes from the unique outsole, inspired by inner tire tubes, which is made with lightweight dual-density EVA. It even takes a few cues from the Y-3 Qasa, suited with a neoprene sock and a structured leather heel-cage, giving it that contemporary look you guys love.
The adidas Originals Tubular Runner was first released in a pack of four tonal colorways of black, grey, navy and burgundy. Shortly after, we saw the release of the limited Consortium pack, which outfitted the shoe in snakeskin trim detailing and speckled laces. And most recently, the Three Stripes announced the release of the New Years Eve Pack, featuring core black and heather grey made with premium leather panels, metallic contrast accents and rope laces. All the aforementioned styles are available through participating adidas Originals retailers but since a lot of them have sold out, we've conveniently provided links for your convenience. Holiday shopping made easy peasy lemon squeezy just for you. Take a look below and be sure to order quick as lighting before gift-searching makes a grinch out of you!
