San Francisco-based Airbnb opened its office in Portland, Oregon, last month, the latest of 12 such global outposts. The company chose Portland in large part for the city's support (this past summer the Portland City Council finalized regulations allowing people to legally rent Airbnb rooms) as well as its general livability. The 27,000-square-foot space is located in an Old Town building known as the Blagen Block, housing around 200 employees whose functions include customer experience, management training, IT and facilities. Conceptualized and designed by the internal staff, the office has no personal desks, and instead features communal work spaces of different types, including lounges, standing tall tables and the occasional traditional desk. There are also a series of rooms, each representing the different places inspired by listings on the site. Check out more looks below.
