Ford set a high bar this morning with the unveiling of their 2016 Ford GT at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The all-new design, which is set for both production and entry into the factory GTE category of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will launch in 2016, the 50th anniversary of its first victory in the endurance race. The new 2016 Ford GT features rear-wheel drive, a mid-mounted engine, and a sexy, sleek aero body with two doors. Most importantly, caged under the hood is a next-generation twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine producing more than 600 horses. Further embracing Ford's racing heritage, the GT makes use of lightweight materials throughout, assisting with acceleration and handling and resulting in an amazing power-to-weight ratio. A fully digital instrument cluster, Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system, an F1-inspired steering wheel, and 20-inch wheels complete the design. This all-new Ford GT is scheduled to take off later this year.
