adidas is set to launch the Chinese New Year Pack, featuring classic Originals sneaker models inspired by the traditional Chinese art of the paper-cut. The design on each silhouette takes its cues from the rich mythology of the Chinese Zodiac, specifically the iconography of the goat, expressed in the art of paper-cutting that can be traced back to the Eastern Han Dynasty of the 1st century AD. Traditionally during the festival, revelers would cut patterns of animals, flowers and auspicious clouds into red paper, which are thought to give good fortune and happiness and ward off misfortune during the coming year. Standouts include the Forum Hi and the Superstar, treated in luscious red and black colorways which link to the aesthetic of Chinese New Year festivities. Accompanied by matching apparel, the sneaker collection is set to launch January 15th.
