Pristine white lab coats scribbled with ink drawn doodles set the tone for Raf Simons‘ Fall/Winter 2015 show at Paris Fashion Week: precise, clinical garments were personalized, so that order descended into chaos, a dichotomy that the Belgian designer is always quick to embrace. The raised catwalk seemed to elongate the already flowing long coats, which included sleeveless trench coats with outsized lapels. Unfinished hems and cuffs were another prominent motif, along with the sort of checks and plaids evocative of a thrift-store shopping spree, ultimately elevating the trappings of adolescent style to the heights of avant-garde fashion.
