With the presentation of Louis Vuitton‘s Fall/Winter 2015 collection at Paris Fashion Week, creative director Kim Jones paid homage to British artist and cult fashion designer Christopher Nemeth, whose creative output during the ’80s, Jones says, “defined London.” The tribute materialized through the liberal use of Nemeth’s signature hand-drawn rope print, which appeared in varying scale on assorted knits, plaid trousers and cashmere duffle coats. Meanwhile, many models carried monogrammed leather bags, while some wore them conspicuously crossed over the shoulders — a sly reference to Tokyo’s Harajuku district, where Nemeth is especially exalted. Now in year four of his tenure at Louis Vuitton, Jones is easing up on the staid luxury normally associated with the brand, and ushering in a new era of creative wearability.
