In presenting Kenzo‘s Fall/Winter 2015 menswear collection during Paris Fashion Week, creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim were inspired by notion of confronting “the unknown with inimitable curiosity,” explaining, “We celebrate the signs of others and observe symbolism as communication through cult scribbles, care labels and unique prints.” It was a high-flown bit of preamble to introduce men’s apparel covered in visual stimuli. There was a clash of colors and prints, used on familiar pieces ranging from an oversized pinstripe wool overcoat to heavyweight intarsia knitwear. Lim referred to a “tribe of individuals,” while also making allusions to community. In the world of Kenzo, there’s always room for the colorful, loud and left of field.
