Lotus has unveiled the Exige S Automatic, the faster and more environmentally friendly cousin to the vehicle's manual variant. Power comes courtesy of a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 -- good for 345 bhp and 295 lb-ft of torque -- that's mated a six-speed automatic transmission, operated through the forged aluminium paddle shifters mounted at the back of the steering wheel. Upshifts with the gearbox take just 240 milliseconds, while downshifts are accompanied with an automatic blip of the throttle in Sport mode. Also in Sport mode, the throttle response is sharpened while the Lotus Dynamic Performance Management system opens the engine exhaust bypass valve and increases the traction slip thresholds of the vehicle. A sprint time of 0-60 mph is rated at just 3.8 seconds, and the top speed comes in at 162 mph, or 145 mph in the Exige S Roadster. The Lotus Exige S Automatic is currently available to order.
