You'll probably recognize director, producer and writer Zack Snyder as maker of films like Watchmen, 300 and Man of Steel. In a completely surprise move, he tweeted out the very first image of Jason Momoa as underwater hero Aquaman, who will appear in the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Honolulu-born Momoa, who has appeared in Conan the Barbarian and Game of Thrones, looks quite different from the Aquaman we grew up seeing. The orange and green scaly tights have been replaced by armor and tribal tattoos. His menacing gaze sits under text that reads "Unite the Seven", which alludes to both the "seven seas" and to the seven original members of the Justice League, which includes both Batman and Superman. After appearing Snyder's 2016 film, Aquaman will also appear in the Justice League movie in 2017 and a standalone one the following year. Take a full look at Momoa in costume below.
