In March of 1912, Tokyo presented Washington DC with a gift of Japanese cherry trees as a token of the blossoming friendship between the US and Japan. Each year the blossoming of these trees is celebrated during the Cherry Blossom festival. Major DC, a sneaker staple in Washington DC since its inception in 2006, has used this annual event as inspiration for their collaboration on the Reebok Ventilator. Sporting a Spring Cherry (coral) toe box with a reflective Sakura floral print along with a contrasting dark grey suede rear, the quality and depth of the details on these are a trivute to Duk-Ki Yu, the creative director and founder of Major. From the images of the cherry blossom trees taken from 1960s posters for the festival, to the Major branding on the heels and aglets, these are an outstanding celebration of both the Cherry Blossom festival and the 25th anniversary of the Reebok Ventilator. You can preorder your pair now from Major, or look for them to drop later in the month.
