The Apple Watch is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated products of the year and Apple has finally revealed the juicy details surrounding their new wearable today at the "Spring Forward" event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The tech giant's CEO, Tim Cook introduced it saying, "It’s the most advanced timepiece ever created. A device that will revolutionize how you connect with others. And a comprehensive health and fitness companion." Following a number of rumors that surfaced last week, we're finally treated to the official unveiling of Apple's "newest and most personal device ever". Take a look below to read all about the incredible Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch will come with a beautiful customizable face that you can change to your liking. In addition to coming with a number of stunning images you can choose from, users will also have the option to have the weather or upcoming calendar events appear on the face.
With one easy swipe up from the watch face, you can access Glances, which offers quick summaries of the information you use most. There will be a number of different functions, including the Now Playing Glance, which lets you control your music conveniently from your wrist.
What good would a smartwatch be without the ability to talk on the phone? The Apple Watch will let you make or answer calls right from your wrist using the built-in speaker and microphone. Additionally, you'll be able to access all your text messages and emails, choosing to reply to, read, flag or delete them with ease.
A cool option that will come with Apple's new timpiece is Digital Touch, which is essentially a shared notepad between you and your closest friends. With it, you'll be able to send a sketch, a "tap" or even your heartbeat to other people who are wearing the Apple Watch. Tim Cook described it as a very "intimate" way to connect with your loved ones.
Health & Fitness
One very useful aspect of the Apple Watch is its ability to act as a comprehensive health and fitness companion. A simple three-ring graphic will give users a look at their daily activity, giving you a look at how much you've exercised, stood or just moved around in a given day. Every Monday, it will suggest a new Move Goal based on your previous week's activity. Additionally, the Workout app will give you detailed measurements during more specific activities.
As promised, the Apple Watch will have an impressive battery life. With one charge, it will be good to go all day long across a range of activities whether you're just making a few calls or using apps. During a typical day, users can expect to have up to 18 hours of juice.
Charging the Apple Watch will be as simple as using it. All you need to do is attach the magnetic charger to the back of the watch and you'll be good to go. It goes along well with the simple design of the product and also makes way for plenty of charging docks and accessories, which we'll probably be seeing very soon.
Finally, the Apple Watch will have a simple system for notifications. Users will be able to set it up so that anything that appears on your iPhone automatically appears on your wrist. You can also make sure you get timely activity reminders and progress updates throughout the day to make your life as easy and breezy as the watch itself.
