Kobe Bryant spent his childhood years in Italy, and later as an adult, he enjoyed traveling throughout Greater China. Those connections that link Bryant to the European and Asian continents ultimately led Nike designers to think about the legendary Silk Road, the inspiration for the new Nike Kobe X “Silk.” From as early as 210 B.C. to 1453 A.D., the 4,000-mile Silk Road was the principal trade route between Europe and Asia. The sort of 1st-century silk tapestries that changed hands during the period were the material basis for this latest Nike Kobe X, with the orange and burgundy motifs nicely complementing the previous Nike Kobe X “Vino.” The Nike Kobe X “Silk” hit stores beginning March 21.
