UNIQLO x Shochiku Kabuki Collection
Shochiku was first started in 1895 when author Otani Takejiro presented his first stage play. Since then, they have expanded into Kabuki, a traditional Japanese dance-drama, film and theater operations. Recently, the historic company got together with UNIQLO to create a collection that showcases Japanese traditions in pop culture through clothing. UT Creative Director Nigo designed the pieces with supervision by Shochiku, drawing inspiration from Omodaka-ya, the costumes and elaborate stage make-up used in Kabuki. The range will include both men’s and women’s apparel, accessories and tote bags that range from $5.90 to $19.90. The UNIQLO x Shochiku Kabuki Collection will be available starting Monday, March 23.
