Audi has unveiled the Prologue Allroad concept ahead of its impending debut at the Shanghai Motor Show. The car is the third in a line that that’s already produced the Prologue coupe at the L.A. auto show and the Prologue Avant wagon at the Geneva Motor Show, and like its predecessors, the Allroad gives an early indication of the new design language that Audi has in the works. Also like those earlier models, the Allroad is a plug-in hybrid, but with a powertrain that packs more muscle than either. Under the hood is a twin turbo 4.0-litre TFSI V8 engine, along with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic gearbox. Together, they generate 734 hp and 663lb-ft of torque, all of which is distributed to the Quattro all-wheel drive system. Despite the 0 – 62 mph sprint time of just 3.5 seconds, Audi is reporting fuel consumption at 98 mpg. Other notable features include massive 20-inch brake discs mounted inside 22-inch wheels, plus Matrix laser headlights and LED taillights. Inside the cabin, there are display screens for the driver and passenger alike, including a deployable OLED infotainment display in the center console.
