Officially unveiled at this week's Auto Shanghai, we are getting our first look at the second member of the Sport Series line-up, the McLaren 540C. Following closely behind the 570C, the 540C is marked with a revised aero package and a set of 19- and 20-inch wheels with a stealth finish. Inside, those in the cabin will enjoy premium leather upholstery that touches the seats, dashboard, and door panels as well as a seven-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth and GPS navigation. Under the hood, the McLaren 540C packs a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that produces 533hp and 398 lb-ft of torque with the help of a seven-speed seamless shift gearbox, which enables the car to accelerate to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds before topping out at 199 mph. The engine also has a start/stop system that lowers CO2 emissions below EU standards. Finally, the new body design boasts new dampers, aluminum body panels, and a carbon fiber monocoque shell, meaning dry weight is just 2,890 lbs, almost 330 lighter than its closet competitor. Set for a global launch, the McLaren 540C will also be the most affordable model to-date, beginning at £126,000, with delivery starting early next year.
