The Italian online retailer has produced a documentary film about the fashion designer Martin Margiela, who's always preferred to avoid the spotlight while letting his clothes speak for themselves. The Belgian has taken the reclusivity to Salinger-like extremes -- he's never been photographed in public or appeared on the catwalk for a celebratory bow -- but he did give his approval for the making of the documentary. Directed by Alison Chernick, the eleven-minute film debuted at the TriBeCa Film Festival and features archival runway footage, as well as interviews with a number of Margiela's friends and colleagues. Among them are Raf Simons, Jean Paul Gaultier, Olivier Saillard and Suzy Menkes, whose insight allows the enigmatic designer to come to life. Check out the short film below.
