With launches like the Apple Watch, timepieces have never been more at the forefront of our minds. While smart watches may be a signal to the future of horology, it's not time to give up on traditional options just yet. A new strong contender to the market is this just-launched series of Minus-8 Layer 24 Watches by the San Francisco-based brand. Taking their name from their GMT-8 timezone on the west coast, the brand is founded in the idea that basic watches don't have to be boring. Arriving in both a Grey and a Black/Red, both Layer 24 watches feature multiple layers of PVD-coated stainless steel that are finished with a proprietary NFC-enabled silicon band. Inside, a Japanese designed automatic movement powers the three-hand time display as well as the date, which are protected by a sapphire crystal face. A clear back case nicely exposes the automatic movement inside while tonal accents for the number indications and arms finish the look. Both Minus-8 Layer 24 Watches are available now online for $448.
