IWC‘s on-going collaboration with the heirs of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry continues with this new IWC Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition “Le Petit Prince”. This is the third timepiece from the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer to pay tribute to one of the best-selling books in literary history, when writer, pilot, and adventurer de Saint Exupéry, in his story, a little prince visits other planets on a journey through the universe. This Double Chronograph takes inspiration from the story throughout its design while still staying true to the functionality needed by pilots. On the midnight blue dial, one of seven stars in the inner circle lights up to symbolize a visit to a different planet, as well as the day of the week. The same seven stars are also engraved on the back of the 44mm watch and include the name of the inhabitant that little prince met on his journey. Given its status as a pilot’s watch, the timepiece includes automatic winding, a chronograph with aggregate time and split-second functions, and a sapphire glass with an antireflective coating. The visual appeal is finished with a matte brown calfskin strap, Super-LumiNova coating for the hands and appliques and an engraving on the case back that marks each device’s place in the 1,000 to be made. Available now, you can own this piece of literary and horological history for about $12,700.
