While there's a lot of variables that go into successfully creating a custom motorcycle, beginning with a Ducati as a base is like playing a round of golf with Tiger as your caddy. That being said, this custom 2009 Ducati 848 by Apogee Motoworks proves that experimentation will always have a place, resulting in a stunning finished product. Successfully blending the new with the old and science fiction with reality, designer Gustavo Pena draws upon his cinematography background to create the "Le Caffage," a bike worthy of a prominent role in Tron. With an oversized gas tank and a minimalist, but comfortable frame, the bike can seem like a retro tribute, but a look at the curvey upper body work, mesmerizing front headlamp, and aggressive instrument panel sparks a futuristic lean. Its engine was also upgraded with new valves, a full set of titanium bolts, new pistons, a carbon fiber radiator, and a new set of twin, hand-crafted stainless steel exhausts. Finally, the name - "Le Caffage" - those fluent in French probably realize it's a made up word that alludes to the bike's cafe heritage. If you want one of these sitting in your garage, reach out to Apogee now as a limited run has just started.
