As Coach staged its first full-scale men’s show earlier this week, presenting an energetic Spring/Summer 2016 collection at London Collections Men, creative director Stuart Vevers spoke backstage about his influences: the Beach Boys, the Kennedy boys and the Beastie Boys. In other words, the colorful and graphic heavy pieces were inspired by ’60s surf culture, classic Americana by way of Kennebunkport, and old-school hip hop by way of the five boroughs. The psychedelic neon swirls and cheetah stripes were presented against a plywood-ramp backdrop, maintaining a youthful, DIY vibe.
