Raf Simons has cultivated a reputation for clothes that express youthful rebellion, and his Spring/Summer 2016 presentation to kick off Paris Fashion Week kept the wild streak going. Roughly half the models wore head scarves that obscured their faces, and even more were attired in oversized mac raincoats with grommets arrayed in a series of geometric patterns. Large chains were slung over one shoulder, functioning as the strap to nylon backpacks. Equally constricting were the cropped sweaters and tops, while pant legs were wide enough to puddle around ankles. The traditional plaid patterns used throughout the collection were a bridge to the past, offering yet another study in contrasts that consistently makes a Raf show a must-see spectacle.
