While Yohji Yamamoto's signature loose-fitting silhouettes were indeed in attendance at the Japanese designer's Spring/Summer 2016 presentation during Paris Fashion Week, it was the vertical stripes and painterly brush stroke-like effects, rendered in glorious color against Yohji's favored muted tones, that caught the eye. Additional visual flourishes included wildly crinkled fabrication on a seemingly shrunken grey suit, as well as pen and ink illustrations of a man walking his dog adorning a crisp, white shirt. The collection was both artistry and artifice alike, with expressions of handcrafted creativity disguised as high fashion.
