Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" Will Stream Exclusively on Apple Music

For the new generation of rap fans who know Dr. Dre as little more than purveyor of premium of headphones, they're about to get acquainted with a legendary album that ushered in the G-funk era of hip hop: The Chronic will stream exclusively on Apple's relaunched music service beginning June 30th, according to Rolling Stone. If you've wondered why the landmark album has been MIA online, it's likely due to the legal wranglings between Dre and Death Row Records. Back in 2011, the N.W.A. co-founder won back the digital rights of The Chronic after a judge ruled that Dre's former record label could not sell the album digitally. Instead, the producer/rapper would receive 100 percent of the proceeds from online sales of The Chronic, while Death Row would retain the rights of the 1992 album in all its physical forms.
