COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS Spring/Summer 2016 Collection | Runway Show
Designer Rei Kawakubo characterized the design ethos behind the Spring/Summer 2016 range for COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS as “broken tailoring.” And by “broken,” Kawakubo meant the literal destruction of the tailored pieces, in which a scalpel was seemingly used to carve swaths into a double-breasted coat adorned with a British hunting scene, revealing a tartan plaid shirt underneath. Pants were chopped just below the knee, while evening jackets had frayed or serrated edges. The upshot? A glimpse into the value of expert tailoring from the inside out.
