Neutral coloring is the hallmark of NikeLab, and each of the upcoming three colorways of the NikeLab Air Zoom Elite 8 (we unveiled the first one here) stays true to that pared-down aesthetic. The design emphasizes the lines on the shoe’s upper, with the distinctive color blocking creating angles that symbolize the edge that all fast runners possess. The placement of the two tones on each pair is meant to evoke an “on-off” effect mirroring the runner in motion. The photographer Rankin — aka John Rankin Waddell — was tasked with capturing the still essence of speed, with British middle-distance runner Hannah England acting as the project’s muse. Check out his work in the following pages, and look for all three colorways of the NikeLab Air Zoom Elite 8 to launch at NikeLab 1948 London beginning June 30, followed by a global release through select NikeLab stores and online in August.
