At BMW Group Innovation Days 2015, the German marque has revealed images of its i8 hydrogen fuel-cell powered prototype. Kept miraculously under wraps since its completion in 2012, the prototype is based around the BMW i8 platform and features a bespoke body made from black carbon fiber. The technology that powers the sinister looking vehicle comes from a a tunnel tank mounted in the middle of the car, storing at hydrogen at 350-bar pressure to deliver an estimated range of over 300 miles. The hydrogen feeds a fuel cell stack built in partnership with Toyota, driving a rear mounted electric motor to generate a reported 242 hp.
